My Chemical Freak: My Chemical Romance All The Time

“Alternative Press” reviews “Danger Days”

October 9th, 2010 | | 0 Comments | Email My Chemical Freak!

Alternative Press has released its review of Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The review is pretty positive, with the album getting a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Here’s an excerpt:

While My Chemical Romance’s former peers have either embraced conceptual introspection (Thursday) or retreated from the spotlight altogether (Brand New), on Danger Days, MCR have fully followed their own larger-than-life creative vision. If nothing else, it’s admirable to see a band in their situation following their muse without worrying about pissing off diehard fans in the process.

“Spin” interviews Ray Toro

October 6th, 2010 | | 0 Comments | Email My Chemical Freak!

Kevin O’Donnell of Spin magazine recently interviewed Ray Toro. He talked about the new album and some of the songs. Here’s an excerpt:

As for a unifying theme, Toro says Way’s lyrics focus on ideas of alientation and escape, and feature a group of outsider characters called the Killjoys. “The overall theme in the music is finding a sense of freedom and using creativity and art as the weapon, as opposed to worrying about the end result,” says Toro, adding that the Killjoys are a loose interpretation of the band itself. “Some people are going to think it’s a departure. That’s the fun of being in the band, having the blessing to explore the music and try different things.”
