BroadwayWorld.com has posted a cool article about the car used in the “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” music video. The car is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am bought on eBay and resorted specifically for the video. Here’s a quote from the article:
“Trans Ams are special to me because I was fascinated with them as a boy,” says Way. “They were the first cars I actually thought were cool. The Trans Am is a muscle car that has always symbolized freedom to me, and I was definitely a little bit metal-head. Plus, it has a T-Top for easy rocket-launching ability, which we definitely needed for the video.”

If you haven’t visited the transmissions tab on the band’s website recently, then you’re missing out. There are a few more static-obstructed clips and a weather report by Better Living Industries.
Also there is yet another song about horses. When the transmissions page was first posted, the song that played was “A Horse with No Name” by America, then it was “Goodbye Horses” by Q Lazzarus, and now it’s “Horse Latitudes” by The Doors. What’s the significance? I don’t know.

My Chemical Romance recently sat down with MTV and did a short interview about the inspiration for the “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” music video. Gerard, who co-directed the video, cited such films as Blade Runner and Mad Max, as well as the works of Andy Warhol. Gerard also revealed a little known factoid about the video:
“There’s a jacket from ‘The Black Parade’ in there,” Way smiled. “I actually wore it on the Projekt Revolution Tour, and it’s in the video. We made sure to put it in there, for our fans.”

Winston Robbins of music blog Consequence of Sound was never crazy about My Chemical Romance. In fact he wrote them of early as a bland emo band. But worry not my friends, he has since seen the light and is now a believer. After finally listening the band’s second studio album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, he has come to the conclusion that the album is “a modern punk masterpiece”. Here’s a quote:
What make[s] My Chem different is their unending versatility. They take that pop-punk and can add to it any number of things. They can give you that edge-of-your-seat Pantera riffing on songs like “Thank You For The Venom”, and then two minutes later have you convinced that you might be listening to a shoegazing Blonde Redhead.
