Iheartradio.com My Chemical Romance Show Review

My Chemical Freak’s Nicole were our eyes and ears at the NYC invitation only show.  She along with 200 other lucky people got to get up close and personal with the guys at P.C. Richard and Son Theater.  We asked her to write a little review for us and here it is!  Thanks Nicole!

Last night MCR played an awesome private show for about 200 guests. They played the PC Richard & Son Theater, just a few blocks south of Canal St. Doors were at 6:30, and show began promptly at 7:30.  At that time 6 members of the band graced the stage, 4 being the original members of the band, the other two being a new drummer (Michael Pedicone) and a synth player.  Both of the new members did an excellent job and were extremely professional.  My Chem opened the show with their latest hit “Na Na Na”, which was followed by their infamous single   “I’m Not OK”. The set also included songs ” House Of Wolves”, “Sing”, “Planetary (Go!)”, “The Kids From Yesterday”, “Helena”, “Teenagers”, “Desolation Row” , and “Welcome To The Black Parade” as the finale.

Some little tidbits for the fans: Gerard’s hair is red just like in all the vids and promos. Mikey is rockin’ a very retro ’80′s hairdo (kinda blonde, spikey and long), and the other guys pretty much look the same. The band’s look and stage presence is a bit different. There are no uniforms like with the Black Parade, and no black funeral attire, but what they do have going on is uniformity in style. Mikey and Gerard both had futuristic haircuts and black cut off tanks, while the rest of the band wore motorcycle jackets to match the theme. Actually, Frank  was wearing plaid shirt, but it it made sense.  The stage was set with neon spray painted guitar amps, motorcycle helmets, and the whole vibe of the show has this Mad Max/Danger Days type of vibe.

At some point in the night Gerard thanked the audience for coming out and supporting them all of these years. He mentioned that the band was so excited to be playing their hometown (or home area really). According to the band, there was a moment in time when the band thought they might never play together again.  They continued on to say that they didn’t want to waste time talking about what didn’t happen, and went on with the show!

They guys were positive, and the show had a good vibe. This album is definitely a bit more fun than the Black Parade, and you can sense that from the band. If you’re going to see them next spring, you’re in for a treat.

Thanks again Nicole for representing us!
