“Just thought you might wanna know that Frank told me LeATHERMOUTH signed to Epitaph Records. I met him at a LeATHERMOUTH show, and that’s what he said.”

My Chemical Romance bassist, Mikey Way has just been asked by DC Comics to write an 8 page story for an upcoming Halloween issue of one of their titles. The rumor is that it will have something to do with Batman but that isn’t confirmed yet at press time.

While digging for more photos of Comic Con ’08, I came upon a live blog of the Eisner Awards.  Here is what it said about Gerard’s acceptance speech.

Next, Best Limited Series…very funny to hear ATOMIC ROBO pronounced by Samuel L. Jackson. The winner is UMBRELLA ACADEMY. Gerard Way, a celebrity comics writer, comes up and says how he and his brother grew up in a place where comics were their escape, and he is happy to be back to the group. He also says he’s nervous with large groups of people, to much laughter. Gabriel gives another moving speech about coming to the show and thanks the colorist. Samuel L. Jackson says he likes colors too.

 Here’s an interview I did with My Chemical Romance back in 2004. This interview was actually recorded and appeared in part on their first DVD, Life On The Murder Scene, which was pretty cool but at the same time strange because I wasn’t told about it so it came as a surprise.
This interview occured a few months after their major label debut came out while they were on their first tour promoting it, so it was a brief time before they became the huge machine they are now. Great guys, I had a great time, even if you don’t like the band take a 10 minute break from life and check it out below.
