My Chemical Romance New Side Projects?

As usual NME gets you all psyched up about something everyone already knows.  Gerard has his comic and a 3rd series of it coming out, Frank has S//C and Leathermouth.

NME reports that Frank Iero said, “”I can see the other guys branching off and doing other things. Gerard [Way] has his writing, and he has plans for that, but he wants to direct too. And Ray [Toro] is such an incredible talent. I’d love to see him get the credit he’s due. I can see us branching off, but always coming back to this.”

Again something we figured and already knew.

Gerard Way Talks Comics with “The Examiner”

My Chemical Romance leader Gerard Way is not your average rocker. Sure, the fuchsia-haired frontman has just one-upped the group’s theatrical 2006 breakthrough, “The Black Parade,” with an even more outrageous set, the genre-jumping “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” which he’s complemented with a post-apocalyptic video serial, a mythical band from this futuristic scenario (The Mad Gear and Missile Kid) and a graphic novel he’s currently scripting. But Way is also the Eisner Award-winning author of “The Umbrella Academy,” a comic concerning a ragtag group of superheroes that’s already been optioned in Hollywood.

New York Times Interview with Gerard Way

“My Chemical Romance is a cartoony kind of band, and that suits the frontman, Gerard Way.”

Frank Iero Steps Down from Skeleton Crew

In a recent post on the forum of Skeleton Crew’s official site, Frank posted a personal note and handed the reigns of Skeleton Crew to “Charlie and Ed”, two guys who have been pretty much running it.

In the note Frank states that he just has too much on his plate and that he would check on Skeleton Crew and all its family from time to time.

“Killjoys” art by Becky Cloonan

October 10th, 2010 | | 1 Comment | Email My Chemical Freak!

The above image (click to enlarge) was taken this weekend at the New York Comic Con. What’s the significance? It’s some Killjoys art by Becky Cloonan. “Who?” you ask. Well, let me fill in all the blanks.

Back in 2009, at San Diego Comic-Con International, Dark Horse Comics announced that it would be publishing Gerard Way’s new comic: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The comic was to be written by Gerard and Shaun Simon (the former keyboardist in Frank Iero’s old band, Pencey Prep). The art was to be done by Becky Cloonan. The comic was supposed to come out this year, but of course, it appears to have morphed into the concept for the upcoming album. There is currently no word on what’s up with the comic, but it will definitely not be coming out this year.

The image above appears to be some concept art that Ms. Cloonan drew of Grant Morrison’s villainous character from the album teaser video “Art Is the Weapon”. (Grant Morrison, by the way, is a well-known comic book writer.) She also drew another piece a couple weeks ago which you can check out HERE.
