My Chemical Romance in Denver

Denver was the setting for My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way’s 34th birthday party Saturday night. The guest list included the rest of his band, plenty of security and about 4,000 screaming fans.

Review of the Edmonton Show

Last night was an amazing experience. My sister and I got to the venue right before Neon Trees hit the stage. The front man had good energy. My only complaint would be that the drummers microphone was very quiet. For being the backing vocalist you could barely hear her.

The excitement level was very high by the time MCR hit the stage. They started their set list with “Na Na Na”. After that they played “Thank You for the Venom” (one of my favourites). The set list was mostly songs from Danger Days but they had a good mixing of songs from Black Parade and Revenge including “Mama”, “Teenagers”, “I’m Not Okay”, and “Hang ’Em High”. If you didn’t know how old they all were you would figure they were all teenagers. Gerard was running from one side of the stage to the other, Frank and Ray were playing like it was the last show they would ever play, and Mikey was at the front of the stage a lot and looking like he was having the time of his life. There were some funny moments between the boys. Pedicone was just playing the kick drum and Gerard was fooling around by doing kung fu poses when Frank came over and pretended to kick him. Gerard fell flat on his stomach with Mikey rolling his eyes and smiling at him. The lights were spectatular but made getting good pictures kind of hard to get. I have to say that I like that they are touring smaller venues.  We were much closer to the stage and it felt more personal (smaller venues are more crowded though so dont be surprised if you get a little squished). Nearly everyone sang along to every song (my throat still hurts) and there was a lot of jumping (watch your feet).  To sum everything up it was an amazing show with high energy, awesome songs, and great moments.

P.S. They did mention the sing it for Japan song. They hope to get it done by the end of this week.

P.P.S. They had lots of great merch for sale. T-shirts were $30 and the hoodies were $50. The bag I got was $20. The line was very long so if you want merch get there early.

MCR Perform “SING” at Roseland

Over the course of ten years, My Chemical Romance has been making music that speaks directly to the hearts of our disenfranchised youth.  These Jersey boys have maintained their status as “saviors of the broken, the beaten and the damned.” After one look around at the sold-out Roseland crowd of adolescents on Friday night, you saw that each one had found a haven of expression and acceptance, even if it is just for a few hours. There were also a fair number of “Gleeks” in attendance, having heard the cast perform the MCR hit “SING” on the February 15th episode.
