The page that has the announcements is in Spanish, but feel to read/translate more here.
Courtesy of setlist.fm, the setlist for the Melbourne show has been made available for viewing. Haven’t seen a lot of set lists be posted, so here’s a chance to see what the band is playing on this tour. A couple special nuggets include “Sleep” and “Cemetery Drive.”

A reminder that My Chemical Romance’s rendition of “Desolation Row” is one of the songs on the new “Chimes of Freedom” record. You can listen on Facebook HERE!

The February 2012 issue of Alternative Press has My Chemical Romance content. The first, on page 48, is a fold-out poster of Gerard on one side (Blink-182 on the other). This was a shot taken during the photo session for what became their cover for The Most Anticipated Albums of 2010 issue (January 2010, issue #258). On the last page of this issue, is a list of The 10 Essential Songs To Make Shoveling Snow Bearable. ”Party Poison” is featured. It reads: “By definition, sporting snow gear and wading through dirty gray slush is decidedly unglamorous. Leave it to My Chemical Romance to pen a song so full of perma-style, your puffy coat and boots will seem like couture fashion. Like David Bowie and the MC5, “Party Poison” is a sassy garage-glam stomp with brash riffs and an even brasher swagger. Just try not to strut through snowdrifts with serious ‘tude when this song shuffles on to your iPod.”

Gerard has made Revolver Magazine’s 100 Greatest Living Rock Stars list! Page 86 of the January/February 2012 issue reads: “Emo pinup Gerard Way has always had a knack for pouring his heart out, but it’s his flair for the theatrical that makes him great. Way’s sense of imagery goes back to his art school roots, when he made his own comic books, and it fueled his group’s 2006 rock opera masterpiece, The Black Parade. All told, his star power is such that ardent fans followed him and My Chem even into their current electro “Na Na Na” incarnation.

Some great-quality photos of today’s Big Day Out performance have been posted to GettyImages. Check them out and stay tuned for more photos as they occur!

Be sure to tune in ASAP to My Chemical Romance playing Australia’s Big Day Out! As of 2:18 a.m., Eastern Time, MCR is up NEXT. Sorry for the late post, but if you’re reading this, follow this link and TUNE IN!
Update: Broadcast ended at 3:08 a.m., Eastern time. Apparently it was not the entire show, broadcast live, so much as it was a highlights/recap of the show. Songs aired were: “Kids From Yesterday,” “Famous Last Words,” and “Welcome To the Black Parade.” The deejay kept giving warnings about Gerard’s “strong” language throughout.

“CLEAR CHANNEL Alternative WRFF/PHILADELPHIA has released “RADIO 104.5 STUDIO SESSIONS VOL. 4,” a collection of some of the best studio sessions recorded live at RADIO 104.5′s iHEART THEATRE from the past year. The CD includes performances from FOSTER THE PEOPLE, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, MUMFORD & SONS, CAKE, BUSH and more.”

Nextmovie.com poses the question of whether or not Johnny Depp has patterned his look after Gerard in the upcoming big-screen version of the cult classic, DARK SHADOWS. It’s entirely possible; Depp is widely known for having a hands-on approach to the characters he plays and rock stars have always been an influence on him (Tom Petty, Keith Richards, Alice Cooper). Fun fact: Johnny Depp is an accomplished guitar player. Admittedly, Johnny has more than a passing resemblance to a Black Parade tour era Gerard in the above photo.

As an addendum to Brandi’s post, found this close-up of Gerard’s new ‘do from today’s (tomorrow’s?) Big Day Out.
According to Cassie the Venomous, Gerard told a fan that he’s in the process of dying it another color (doesn’t know what color it is going to be yet), but as any hair stylist will tell you, he has to lighten it first, since his natural color is brown/black.
