Artrocker Internview with Mikey and Gerard

“Whilst thousands of eager teenage fans coil round the interior of Glasgow SECC we are brought past the manic group that started the queue almost 48 hours previously, and into the empty Hall 4. Once we;ve passed through four different security points and up numerous hallways, we were seated in a small but homely room, sparsely lit and scented with several candles.”
—Stephen Mcleod of Artrocker

Gerard talks to Ben Jones about working with David Bowie

“Gerard Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance tells Absolute Radio’s Ben Jones why he’d like to collaborate with david Bowie.

BJ: If you could collaborate with any musician from history who would it be and why? We’re giving you the whole of history.

GW: I know, it’s hard, dude. David Bowie. He’s awesome.

BJ: Why David Bowie? I think I probably know why David Bowie.

GW: Right. I think because he’s a true artist, he’s completely always done what he wanted, he’s changed so much record to record, and I completely look up to him. I definitely think he’s a genius, I think nothing really ever seemed to get in the way of him making his art and that’s admirable.”

My Chemical Romance Comment on “Glee”

“I only saw the show twice after we were asked to do it and I don’t think there is anything like that on television. My least favourite parts of the actual show is the singing; I think as that is a bit too much like Grease.  But the actual show is funny first of all but to also have such an openly gay character going through things says something about the times – so I was excited to be a part of something which is so forward like that.  And I think we were the first rock band to do it too.”

“Mere hours before they take to the stage in Dublin’s O2, bassist Mikey Way and guitarist Frank Iero of New Jersey punk-pop icons My Chemical Romance chatted to State about the inspiration behind their fourth studio album, Danger Days: the True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Though the gig itself was far from sold out, there were reports of cues stretching around the corner the night before in anticipation…”
