The Black Parade Is Dead, Did You Pre-order?

Late last night I got the email, as I am sure many of you did too.  The DVD/CD combo was up for presale at 1am central time this morning.  Well, being the obsessive person I am, I ran right over to theblackparadeisdead.com and nearly had a heart attack before I finished checking out in the online WB store!  My heart was jolted back into rhythm when I saw the final price… $70 and some change.  This was with shipping and all.  You might say, “well you didn’t have to order the limited edition.”  Oh but I did!  I mean they know how to get ya.  They know what to do to make you want it all, and they know we love that band so much, we are willing to spend our lunch money or grocery money to get it! :)

I have poked around a few online bulletin boards and fan sites.  The concensus is general… “The limited edition is way to high!”  This is what is being screamed (written in all capital letters) around the internet.  And don’t get me wrong for a second, it stung a little when I mashed the “complete order” button this morning.

So here is my question.  Did you buy the limited edition?  Are you happy with what you are getting?  Did you say “eff that” and buy the regular CD/DVD combo instead of the limited edition?

Just wondering what all the MyChemicalFreak readers have to say!

Your friend in brokeness,
Brandi :)

Direct from Reprise Press Release

BURBANK, CA — 05/01/08 — For those who missed the opportunity to see My Chemical Romance live at one of the more than 250+ shows touring in support of their highly acclaimed MULTI-MILLION-selling 2006 album “The Black Parade,” or for those who want to relive soaring concert moments, let the celebration begin. My Chemical Romance will release a live CD/DVD called “The Black Parade Is Dead!” on June 24th on Reprise Records.

The package captures different sides of My Chemical Romance by spotlighting two very different shows. The CD and DVD feature concert highlights from the huge Palacio de los Deportes sports arena in Mexico City on October 7th, 2007 and the intimate Maxwell’s club in Hoboken, NJ, on October 24th, 2007. Both shows demonstrate why critics have raved about The Black Parade World Tour, which began on February 22nd, 2007, and will conclude with a triumphant sold out hometown headlining show at New York City’s fabled Madison Square Garden on May 9th, 2008.

The discs include live tracks from the Mexico City and Hoboken shows, including the band’s smash singles “Welcome to the Black Parade,” “Famous Last Words,” and “Teenagers,” as well as tracks from their 2004 album “Three Cheers For Revenge.” The DVD was directed by Adam Rothlein, whose previous long-form credits include DVDs for Green Day, Disturbed, System of a Down and All-American Rejects.

Beginning on May 5th when the website goes live, fans will be able to pre-order “The Black Parade is Dead!” by visiting www.theblackparadeisdead.com, where they can also view a trailer for the DVD. Anyone who pre-orders the album from this special website will also gain access to downloads of three DRM-free tracks from the Mexico City show: “Welcome to the Black Parade,” “Mama,” and “Dead!”.

“The Black Parade is Dead!” will also be released in a collectible, limited-edition version, which will feature the CD and DVD, plus a mask designed by one of the band members, in a pine box coffin. (Each band member has designed one mask, which has been selected for inclusion in each box at random.) Another CD/DVD bundle also includes an exclusively designed t-shirt. All special editions are available only online at www.theblackparadeisdead.com.

At 15 months, the Black Parade World Tour is the longest and most internationally comprehensive headlining tour that My Chemical Romance has played to date, featuring multiple legs around the world.

The Black Parade Is Dead: More Info

It has been brought to my attention that the original message about the DVD/CD combo delay is, in fact, an accurate statement.  It was made by Warner Brothers Music in Spain.  AbsolutePunk.com is reporting it to come out in June/July.

Trailers from the DVD will be put out in April instead of the release of the entire combo.

I will let you know as more information becomes available.

Possible Name for New Album

personal-fav.jpg

I am not sure what it is about us MCR fans, but we seem to need to know the name of everything immediately!  So in the spirit of knowing everything now, there has been mention of a possible name for My Chemical Romance’s fourth album.

A fansite is reporting that Gerard talked about the new album on stage at the concert in Venezuela.  He made mention that the name would possibly be “Die Slow”

Many people had worried, after the NME magazine interview, that the new album would be HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY.  It still very well could be, but with a name like “Die Slow”(if that is the name that has actually been chosen) one hopes that Gerard hasn’t lost all of his death inspired-ness!

Although, in common MCR fashion, the name will change five more times between now and the actual release.

Thoughts?  Discuss?

(picture above is an oldie, but a personal fav of mine)

The Black Parade Is Dead Set

Maybe I am the last to know, but I have finally got a confirmation of just what’s going to be on this DVD/CD combo.  I might have guessed it, but I didn’t want to, as they say, “count my chickens before they hatch”.

A UK music news site, Albumvote.co.uk, is reporting the set to include: one DVD with various live performances, one DVD with the complete and final concert as “The Black Parade”, and a CD containing all The Black Parade tracks in live form.

I guess my hopes of a small diary style situation on one of them, has been crushed.  Oh well, I will enjoy whatever is on all three.  They never cease to make this chick happy, with regard to their DVD’s and CD’s.  There is still no official release of what the cover looks like.  We have seen it in the advertisements for their upcoming concerts, but it was a miniscule photo, to say the least.

Where the site got their info isn’t completely clear as they did not release their source, but they are stating the release date to be April 21st.  This could be the European date for release and not the U.S.  I will know more about that soon, hopefully.

Click Here for the photos we have of the cover so far.
