Me either! I do get the feeling that any “delay” might have to do with how many songs they’ve recorded. I’m sure they’d like the album to be cohesive rather than just all over the map.

Sounds like they’ve got the songs selected due to the fact that the final mixes and mastering is being done. But whatever they don’t have will be put to good use in about 15 years when Brandi and I are middle-aged and the inevitable MCR box set is released.

Just wanted to let eveybody know that Rolling Stone issue 1094/1095 (“00″), is the issue that lists the top 50 albums and top 50 singles of the past decade. Nowhere in the lists, nor the issue for that matter, is My Chemical Romance mentioned. I find this to be a gross oversight, but at the same time it’s not surprising since Rolling Stone caters pretty much to the rock artiste elite. This is mainly due to its head honcho, Jan Wenner. Jan Wenner is also the main driving force behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (see “joke” in the dictionary). A good example of what an elitest Wenner is can be none other than the fact that Alice Cooper is not in the Hall of Fame, even though he has been eligible for induction since 1994. Not inducted, and not even nominated yet. The list of omissions goes on and on. The point is that the same game is arguably afoot with MCR and Rolling Stone. Seriously, how could they compile an end-of-decade issue and mention American Idiot as the “lost art of the concept album” and not even give a sentance nod to The Black Parade, which is even produced by the same person as AI? Sam Bayer did the main 2 videos for BOTH albums. Again, makes no sense. In my educated opinion, MCR are without a doubt one of the biggest and influential bands of this decade. To not include them in a Top 50 list is downright silly. I encourage you to submit your comments, tastefully and pithy, to: letters@rollingstone.com.

Just wanted to say that I stand (somewhat) corrected. On page 26, below a huge photo of Fall Out Boy, there are 2 miniscule mentions of MCR with a small photo of a Revenge-era Gerard. And of course MCR are relegated to the emo movement.

She’s probably like me, wondering if MCR are reinventing the guitar in the studio or something. They have been saying the album is due out in spring, and by my watch we’re more than 2/3 of the way through February and still no announcement of a street date. “Stripped-down” albums are NOT supposed to take this long, voice ailments aside.
