“There’s something about being an American rock-and-roll band that we’ve kind of grown into and we’re very proud of. And I think that’s what we’re celebrating with this record. There’s no agenda, there’s no mission; it’s just about rock and roll.”

Gerard seems to be taking himself too seriously. The new stuff just doesn’t seem like My Chem at all. There’s no punk element and it just doesn’t sound like them. I think its important for a band to do something new…but at the same time still being themselves. This new MCR stuff just doesn’t seem like them. Maybe once its recorded completely and on the album it will be different. I hope so considering they’re my favorite band.
Gerard needs to let the music speak for itself.
Plus, it seems like they’ve forgotten their Jersey fans.

No longer trying to save lives? No message? No meaning?
Is that what he’s saying??

It’s not uncommon for a band to go for a more back-to-basics, stripped-down, garage rock, straight ahead rock and roll record, after releasing not just one, but arguably 2, very complex and layered albums. 3 Cheers was full of a lot of great, short, punky rock songs, but it was still a complex album in its own right. The Black Parade; where do we even begin? Dare we call it The Wall of the 21st Century? And then came the highly-theatrical tour, which was a cross between Sgt. Pepper and Welcome To My Nightmare, with a pinch of Ziggy Stardust and a dash of Iggy Pop. And, in fact, during the final tour last spring, we started to see the band morphing back into their simpler ways as The Black Parade limped to The End. So, I find it to be no surprise that MCR wants to make things a little simpler this time around. What The Black Parade showed us was a band going through some serious growing pains, coming to terms, and we all had a front-row seat. Now it’s time to get dirty and trashy. And that’s awesome.
