I’m still fairly amazed at how quickly they’re chruning out an Umbrella Academy movie. I didn’t realize that it was such a hit that a studio is prepared to bankroll it. No offense to Gerard or Gabriel, but it is a bit of a surprise. I also love how whoever was with Gerard, Frank, and Mikey finally told the guy asking the questions that he needed to wrap it up. Makes me wonder how much 5 minutes of Gerard or Mikey’s or any member of MCR’s time is worth in actual dollars.

Brett, i was thinking the same thing. First i heard that gerard thought the comic was too much in its infancy to even suggest making a movie out of it, and now all of a sudden everwhere they are confirming there is gonna be a movie, which dosent make sence to me with only one volume actually compleated?!?!?!?!?! …. well by then volume 2 might be done .. but still …
i am just as surprised as you are on this one .. becasue i keep getting mixed reiews from gerard :S

^We don’t know how much say Gerard actually had in whether it’s made into a movie or not though guys. Yeah he wrote the comic but DH signed the deal with Universal so who knows how much of a choice he had. But even if he did, if I were him, I don’t think I’d turn down the chance to have something I wrote made into a movie anyway.lol

I’m not discrediting Gerard, his skills, or his ability to make a buck off of his creation. Certainly he is entitled to that. And perhaps it’s more of a situation where there is a deal to DEVELOP a screenplay. For example, the cult TV series, The Prisoner (Patrick McGoohan–RIP), has been reportedly being turned into a movie since the early 90’s, but is still in “development” phase. So who knows.

KK … and this is why im questioning it … is dh really doing it out of making a good movie .. or is it to gain money (which is not a bad thing) .. but i have a strong feeling this movie would not turn out amazing becasue of the rush .. great comics like .. for example the watchmen took ages to turn into a movie becasue of its complexity .. dh should atleast let gerard make twists and add more to the plot before trying to make it into a movie
plus that .. the director’s (supposidly) … his movies were crap before .. race to witch mountain was stupid (ironically i just got home from seeing it with some friends) and live free or die hard was ok. and universal sucks.
its a rush people .. i would rather wait and recieve an amazing movie, then quickly tua be turned into something its not.
