My Chemical Freak: My Chemical Romance All The Time

So I finally got my RED vinyl copy of Bullets from the nice folks at Eyeball Records. I’ll start out by saying that it comes with a complimentary Eyeball Records sticker, which now adorns my bumper, as well as 2 promo flyers for The Bronze Episode (myspace.com/thebronzeepisode). Now that I know The Bronze Episode is putting out an album, I can FINALLY sleep at night!

There’s not a ton to say about this record, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The entire package is pretty basic. The liner notes and photos are laid-out on one sheet in the slipcase, 2-sided. The red vinyl is transluscent as opposed to Three Cheers’ solid red. The vinyl is your standard store-level grade. Personally, I think ALL of MCR’s catalogue deserves the 180-gram treatment, but that’s just this humble fan’s opinion. Throw it on the turntable, and it sounds great, if not a little on the quiet side. I had to nearly max-out the slidebar volume controls on my audio mixer to get it to 0dB. I don’t understand why the analog mastering would have been done so quietly, perhaps to prevent a lot of distortion?

Highlights of the vinyl experience are “Vampires,” “Headfirst For Halos,” and “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville.”

Even though the shipping took nearly 2 weeks, I would still recommend buying from Eyeball as opposed to Amazon, simply because it’s always good to show support to independant labels and stores.

Okay, they’ve now squeezed all of the blood (gallons of the stuff) out of My Chemical Romance’s current cannon. I hope it rains torrentially in Los Angeles so that the boys can get us a new record before spring (which is basically June here in Alaska) and be on the road by summer. Heck, I don’t care if LynZ has to give birth on the tourbus.
