Reader Courtney was gracious enough to send us a butt load of pics from the 12/4 Leathermouth/MSI concert. Below are her photos and her review!
Thanks Courtney!
Review By Courtney
Before the show started, my friend (also named Courtney) and I waited by the leathermouth merch to buy a shirt to wear throughout the concert. Leathermouth was running late, so after eavesdropping on a couple of people’s conversation about how they met MCR way back before they were famous. Court and I tried to squeeze up through the right side of the pit, we pissed off countless people, then realized that the people at the front weren’t budging, so we made our way through to the left side. We ended up getting pretty close.
Finally, after what seemed like forever in my excitement and anticipation to see Frank Iero, Tubring ended, they packed up, and leathermouth and their stage crew started setting up. I asked the girl in front of me, who was dressed as lyn-z, if she cared about seeing leathermouth that much, and she said that she was there for MSI and let me go in front of her. When Frank came on to put a flag over an amp, I yelled “hi Frank!” over the music playing on the speaker next to me, he turned and looked and we made eye contact, he smiled. Then the show started. Since I was shorter than the guy in front of me, he let me go in front of him. So that was pretty nice. The show was AMAZING. I was glad to see the mustache gone, because in my opinion he looks more attractive without it, and I was diggin’ the new outfits. Frank threw out his bottle cap to some lucky catcher, dumped out the rest of his water on people, threw out his bottle, and spit on them (I really wouldn’t mind that )
but I was over too far…
At some point, someone threw a glowstick on the stage and Frank said something like,”you shouldn’t waste these light sticks because the kids in somalia don’t get them.
They probably made them and they didn’t even get one!” It was pretty funny.
They played a new song that Frank said was their first time playing live, called “your friends are full of shit”. It was really fast, I loved it. I got a bit of it
on video, but the sound quality is bad and it cut off at 43 seconds because mycamera blacked out. (The whole concert Frank would be RIGHT in front of me and I
would try to take a picture, but it would just shut off. It was really frustrating.) Frank came over right in front of me at one point, and I didn’t know what to do with myself. All the girls next to me tugged at his shirt, and at the last minute i touched his butt… by accident… XD
Then at the last song, “what’s a pulse got to do with it”, Frank hung on a pipe that was on the ceiling and was over the pit. He tried putting his feet up to hang, but he just couldn’t reach.
I had to leave after leathermouth’s set, because my mom was my ride and she was working the next day, but I was alright with that. When my mom asked how it was, I told her, “that was seriously the best day of my whole life,” and I honestly meant it.
Surprises:
They have new shirts! They ALMOST look professional lol (I dunno if you can be in a band like LeATHERMOUTH and look professional haha.)
James is still the drummer!
No more mustache for Frankie
Frankie is not a Twilight fan LMAO
I got pretty close, it was great, Frankie was very funny, I loved the banter with the crowd and the guitarist. I love when you can tell a band is having fun on stage with you.
While the guitarist was trying to fix the guitar Frankie jokingly said “Thank you for making Twilight Number One in the box office!” everyone starts screaming all happy and excited. Frankie pauses and said “That was a joke…” then you hear people talking shit to each other over if they like it or they didn’t like it and some people are screaming FUCK TWILIGHT at Frankie so Frankie’s like “Go ahead, talk amongst yourselves about it” lol
After LeATHERMOUTH’s set, I got out of the pit because my friend was sidelining it because she didn’t feel good. All of LeATHERMOUTH were still hanging out by the side of the stage breaking down their things and stuff. (now this was a unique setup…sidestage was bigger than the stage just blocked off by railings and tables lol) So we waited there and Frankie eventually came over and he was really sweet. It was actually kinda funny. I asked if he would sign the AMP mag for me and he didn’t even know he was in it. I’m like “yeah man you made front page” *shows him the front* then i found the page he was on and had him sign that and I was like “actually i have an extra one if you want it you can have it” and he paused then said “nah that’s ok” but he looked like he really did want it and i was like “are you SURE? I really don’t mind” and he’s like “well…if you dont mind…” “not at all…would you mind signing something for my friend clare?” “sure” *rumages for something for him to sign for clare since i’m giving him the mag I bought for him to sign for her* He signed a folded up MCRime flyer for her. He signs it, gives me a hug and then I LEAVE.
Yep I just offered him a magazine 3 times turn around and realize my friend is still carrying both magazines…I forgot to give it to him. “Oh shits.”
So I ran back over to him and was like “haha I’m sorry…I tell you that you can have it then i walk off and don’t give it to you…I’m a shit” he laughed and said it was ok and thanked me again.
Mindless was good it was really hard to get ino it I guess for two reasons.
1) I wasn’t in the pit…I’m not used to not being in the pit…but I kinda didn’t wanna be I didn’t feel that great today either.
2) Lynz wasn’t there so it was hard not to miss her. But her health comes first of course.
There was some really funny things that Jimmy did too. Like I have a video to post for you where he says that we all know they are a christian band (haha) and then he starts praying to hannah montana lol. Then he also took a stab at Twilight too. lol
“I know what you want…you want me to call out for pizza” before going into acapella “bring the pain” into faggot.
After about 5 mins or so once people started to leave and Jimmy wasn’t gonna get mobbed he came back out and sat on the edge of the stage and signed stuff for fans. It was hilarious. People were giving him money to sign and he’d sign 1/2 and then rip it in half and keep the unsigned half lol. When I gave him my IF cd he signed the inside while asking me “this? why this? I want more money” then he licks the inside of my cd case and closes it. I’m like stuck somewhere between “haha and eww” but I guess that’s kinda punk right? haha. It could have been so much worse…Felon Courtney gave him a shirt to sign, he signed it and then blew his nose on it and gave it back to her. I would have been like “nah…you keep it, you owe me $20″ lol.
Reader Liz went to the Chicago Drum Off at the Guitar Center and met Bob! This is what went down
I just thought I should give you an update on Mr. Bob Bryar. I saw him Tuesday at the Drum Off in Chicago. He looks very well and happy. I asked about his hand, and he showed me his zig-zag scar on his wrist. It felt weird and bumpy. He said that it was doing just ok. He will soon start weight training for his hands, so hopefully that will make it better.
I also managed to get his autograph. When I went up to him I apologized for making him work his hand even more. He smilled and said it was fine. I had on me a couple of power point note slides from my psychopathology class. I told him he could choose which disorder he wanted to sign. His first reaction was “this is weird.” I also told him not to write all over it because I still needed to study them. So he decided to be a little sh*t and draw a line across one of the words on the power point. I called him a jerk and he just laughed.
There were a bunch of people waiting in line so I decided to leave quickly after. He was increadibly nice and was kind to very one who talked with him.
We were very happy to hear that Gerard and Lyn-Z are expecting their first child; is that going to affect MCR’s plans much? ”No. You know if anything, it’s just going to make the family bigger and we’re just really excited. As soon as he told me my jaw dropped, because he was the kind of kid that was like, ‘I’m never going to get married, I’m never going to have kids’, and it was in a year that all that changed. I’m just so excited for him, because he’s so excited, and if anything, it’s just going to make touring that much better – everyone’s gonna have kids out on the road and their wives and stuff, it’s just going to be like a touring family circus.”
