The L.A. Times is reporting that Warner and Youtube can’t come to an agreement and in turn Warner Bro. will be gradually pulling all their act’s videos from the screens of Youtube.
I personally think it will only be official videos from the actual My Chemical Romance Youtube Channel or Warner Channel. No word when this will actually be taken down.

That is SO not fair! What are they even arguing about? And I think they are already pulling them. None of my MCR videos are avalible, due to “a claim from a 3rd party”. I haven’t tried the WB or MCR channel videos yet. But still. that’s so not fair. -.-

This was on the news! The guy was like all the videos from the bands on the WB label ext.. won’t be having offical videos on youtube lie, madonna, red hot chilly peppers, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!! It doesn’t matter TOO bad cause all the videos that are on there are there music vids, happy new year or something, the black parade is dead and the black parade conference, so not all hope is lost.

This could very well mark the beginning of the end of YouTube as we know it. Virtually the same thing happened to Napster, and look where that is today! Even though I can see both sides of the argument, I am on the side of the fans/consumer. In fact, I am a proponent of the newer idea of giving the music away for essentially free, and having artists make the majority of their money by ticket sales and associated merchandise. You look at situations like this, and you can see why CD sales are in the crapper! And since CD sales are in the crapper, record companies are beginning to slowly panic. If artists released their music for free, there would be no need for record labels (see what Live Nation has done with Madonna and Paul McCartney), and artists would self-sustain by touring. Pretty simple. At any rate, the days of record labels of old are numbered. Warner Bros., Sony/Epic, Geffin, etc.: you have been warned.

P.S. – A clear sign that record labels are panicking is evident by the desperate (and futile) measures with outlets like YouTube and Napster.

The exact phrasing of the Reuters article I read was:
Warner Music Group ordered YouTube on Saturday to remove all music videos by its artists from the popular online video-sharing site after contract negotiations broke down.
as seen here: http://uk.reuters.com/article/industryNews/idUKTRE4BJ1EY20081220
…I became a MyChem fan after seeing them on YouTube. I went on to buy all their CDs and DVDs, plus a significant amount of merchandise from the WB store. Pure revenue for WB, with no investment on their part.
Undermining a source of free publicity and revenue – hey, if the rest of the music industry is as stupid as WB, they’ll be six feet under within a year or two.

I COMPLETELY FREAKIN AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT!

Warners isn’t stupid and they’re not going to be under in a year or two. After all, we’re talking about an entity that has been in existence for well over 60 years. But the music industry cannot survive forever in its current form and the mafioso mentality of legally “roughing-up” kids uploading and downloading at home. The real problem is how these companies do business in the 21st Century with a business model that is over 50 years old.

So, it’s back to record companies screwing artists and fans now, huh?
My Chem should sign to a record company that isn’t full of shit. To think I actually respected Warner Bros.
