Gerard talks to Popeater about his songs being full of hate.
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is a very happily married man. “I love my wife,” he tells Popeater smiling on the red carpet of the 2008 Scream Awards. So does that mean the band’s next album is going to be filled with love songs? Not a chance. “I had a discussion with Lindsay [his wife] about it and I was like, ‘Wow, all this stuff I’m writing is kind of full of hate. I don’t know why that is,’” he says. “She’s like, ‘Cause you’re happy.’”

With all due respect to Gerard, but if I hear one more thing about him being gaga for his wife, I think I’m going to hurl. We know Lindsay is one hot mamacita, but we don’t need to be reminded every 5 seconds how super married life is. Give it a rest, G!

I’m really excited about their new album. I think it’ll be really different then their alter-egos of the black parade.
*And i loveeee how he always talks about him wife. I think it’s really cute and super sweet. He’s awesome and i’m happy he’s with a women as great as linsday and not some horrible person.

i really don’t see mcr sogs being al about hate. i mean some of their stuff is angry, actually like almost all of TC4SR was angry. but i healthy kind of Angry. not a ‘GO JUMP OF A BRIDGE CUZ LIFE ISNT WORTH IT” angry

he’s writing angry songs cause he’s happy? ok now im sooooo lost. their old songs were angry but that’s just venting, everyone gets angry. the 2 new songs are lovey-dovey and not really mcr’s style.
brett, gee doesnt brag about how he loves his wife and he doesnt call her hot ever 5 seconds. iv never heard him say that in public

I’ve gotta agree with Brett here. He name drops Lindsay like its going out of style….all the time. We know that you love your wife, Gerard. I witnessed just how MUCH firsthand and unwillingly. I doubt that the interviewer even asked him if he loved his wife (who the f*ck asks that in the first place?) So let’s give it a rest now, Gerard. Let’s give it a rest.

Missy: I was using a *little* hyperbole when I characterized Gerard’s relationship with his wife (and yes, I do think Lindsay is way hot–high 5 to him!). But as Lydia pointed out, he mentions it very, very often ad nauseum. Now, what Lydia witnessed “firsthand and unwillingly,” I can only guess. Again, I say this going with the understanding that I hold Gerard in the higgest of esteem. The way I see it, being a big fan also allows you to be a critic, when necessary.

Also want to point out as an addendum to my posts that in the issue before last of Alternative Press, a reader actually wrote in to the magazine and thanked them for their coverage of Mindless Self Indulgence, and in their words wrote: “It’s nice to hear about MSI without hearing Lin-z is married to Gerard Way in the same breath.” So, the sentiment is out there and probably bigger than one would guess.
