Well I made it back from Atlanta in one piece. It was awesome. Got to meet people (Kristie) I have been talking too for years, and that was every bit of awesome that it could be. I also met Johnnie from MikeyWayOnline.net.
Saturday was spent running around every convention center and ballroom at the Dragon Con hotels. I saw some SWEET costumes, but no Umbrella Academy ones. Mostly saw the most popular things such as: Star Wars, Hellboy, Lots of Barbies, Robot Chickens (the actual chicken), Batman, Joker and so on. Awesome dealer booths. Totally wanted me a $90 Light Saber but alas i didnt have enough money.
So 5:30pm came in the Cairo Room. It was time for The Umbrella Academy Panel. It had been rumored that Gerard would be there but it wasn’t advertised. So sure enough I get into the panel and Scott Allie (TUA Editor) informs us that Gerard couldn’t make it. He had been at the Dragoncon that day but had to leave before the panel. Yes I was bummed. So on with the panel. I did learn some interesting things to come about TUA.
This could be spoilers for some so I am going to put it under the cut….
All of the below information came STRAIGHT from Scott Allie…
The Umbrella Academy IS going to be a movie definately, but not an animated movie. It is going to be a LIVE ACTION Film. Still no date set.
The end of Apocalypse Suite is odd. There is no explanation for the sandwich. It just happened, no one knows why not even Gerard.
Vanya wasn’t meant to be the villian the conducter was, but as Gerard was writing it she sort of turned into the villian.
No further info will be given on Reginald Hargreaves in the coming series.
The TUA series will be close to 9-10 series according to Scott Allie. He says thats the number of seperate series there will be tennatively.
There will be more special TUA issues such as the Myspace Presents online comic.
I was DEAD on when I said that President Kennedy’s assassination would play a roll in the next series. It is going to be a political period in the next issues.
More when I remember and Kristie refreshes my memory! haha
