My Chemical Freak: My Chemical Romance All The Time

Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy: Dallas

I have been pondering for about a week I suppose, the name of the new UA series or well at least the first issue.

Press releases from dark horse have dubbed the new tale “A story as American as a 1961 Lincoln Continental”.   So I started chatting with friends about it.  One said friend thought, “It must be to do with the elections”.  I thought possibly as well but the 26th of november is an aweful bit late to promote voting and such.

Then I thought hmmm look at the photo.

What does it remind us of?

John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas on November 22nd.  The release of TUA series 2 will be much closer to that than the presidential election.

Take a look at the photo of the car that JFK was in when killed…

Notice the flags on either side of the front of the car, its a convertible, white wall tires, totally not sure on color.  Thinking black because it was a presidential “limo”.  Last but not least… Kennedy was killed in 1963.  Look at the picture of the cover.

So what else could it be?

JFK, Killed IN Dallas, IN NOVEMBER, IN 1963, IN a car very similar to the one on the cover.  How will it tie into the story?  Will it at all?  Now I am all psyched up!  I have to know what it’s going to be about.

Any thoughts?  Am I pissing in the wind here?  What do you think?

Thanks to johnnie for sending us the other motorcade photo.

i KNEW i recognized that shot! there’s actually a photo from that angle of the presidential escort on that fateful day. so, yes, i believe you’ve put the puzzle together just right. now all you have to do is wait, and wait, and wait (!) to see how the UA works into the historic event!

Dude if you can find that pic of the motorcade car with JFK at that angle i will forever love you. I looked and looked for it last night. I did find a video on youtube of the actual car in a museum somewhere.

i was thinking (probably) of the first photo you posted here. but try this shot: http://www.big13.net/Tommy%20Eure/Tommy_Eure_newJFK.jpg
it was taken four days before JFK was shot. but the cover artist could have taken any photo of the motorcade at that period of the presidency as an inspiration. good photos, though!
p.s. you know you forever love me anyway :D

i was probably thinking of the first photo you posted, B.
try this photo: http://www.big13.net/Tommy%20Eure/Tommy_Eure_newJFK.jpg
it was taken 4 days before JFK was shot, but the motorcade used the same car, and this shot is more like the UA cover.
or try the 8th photo down on the right side at: http://davidvonpein.blogspot.com/
p.s. you know you forever love me anyway :D

First, the first picture of JFK riding in a limo is of the 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan he inherited from Eisenhouer (who inherited it from Truman), taken on Inauguration Day in January of 1960. The second pic is from his last ride in Dallas in a 1961 Lincoln on Nov. 22, 1963. The cover art is DEFINITELY of the 1961 Lincoln he was riding in when assassinated. Hope this clears some things up.
