My Chemical Freak: My Chemical Romance All The Time

The Umbrella Academy Movie?

Ok long ago and far far away…

Ok I’m being stupid.  It’s no doubt by now you have seen the news about The Umbrella Academy becoming a movie.

We reported a few months ago (CLICK HERE TO READ) that Dark Horse had signed a deal with Universal to turn some of its comics into movies.  At the time Richardson (dark horse head honcho) said that there was interest in TUA for a movie but their first projects with Universal were already underway.

Now at some sort of awards show, Richardson revisits the idea of The Umbrella Academy becoming a movie (CLICK HERE to watch the interview).  Apparently it will happen eventually.  There is no mention of when or if Universal has signed on, its a vague explanation to say the least.

I said it and I will say it again.  I have always thought TUA would make a great movie!

First Hand Account of TBPID Screening

By Vix

We arrived at Warner Bros Records at about 2:30 PM on June 23, 2008. It was me, my mom and sister, and my friend Ashley we’d brought with us – she had already traveled three hours to get to Fresno, where it would then take another three and a half hours to reach our final destination.

Walking up the steps, and my nerves were all over the place. I didn’t know what exactly to expect, but I was excited as I could possibly be. We entered the building and were met by about five other people that would be attending the screening sitting on large comfy-looking sofas and chairs. Beneath that was a mass of white fuzzy rugs on top of hardwood flooring. The four of us took seats opposite of the group and waited patiently until we found out more information. That’s when I saw Craig Aaronson – yes, THE fucking amazing Craig Aaronson – walk by. I’m pretty sure I was just staring at him, and he gave me a weird look yet a small smile – embarrassing a little.

About four others had joined our party on the opposite side of the room, and at about 3:10, two guys from WBR walked out and said they were gonna call off our names so we could bring up the cans and make sure we weren’t trying to sneak our way in.

After that was over, they led us up a flight of stairs into a conference room where a projector screen was set up and about thirty to forty black leather chairs set up around the room, with MASSIVE speakers… surround sound!!

They passed around little posters and window decals while we were waiting for one of the guys to come back and show us the Limited Edition of The Black Parade Is Dead!. He showed us one of the masks (http://c. ilike. com/w/0133/553/0133553442_m. jpg – bottom right corner) yet said he would not be able to tell us who’s it was. Sadly. :( He took the box away and then proceeded to begin the dvd. We focused all our attention on that. As he pressed play, the sound slowly grew louder as we watched the band do their warm ups and exercises and before-show rituals.

All of a sudden, you hear the heart monitor beeping and the lights begin to rise as the opening lyrics and strums of guitar are heard. The Black Parade has begun.

The sound of the dvd and speakers made my hair stand on end, gave me goosebumps… I felt as if I was REALLY there. It was an incredible sound I will never forget! The credits roll as Blood is played.

The next portion – the New Jersey show – is definitely my favorite. Its so intimate, so real and raw, it makes you just wish you were there to have witnessed it. The jokes Gerard made and the way he interacts with the crowd definitely shows his charisma, and just why exactly the fans love him the way they do.

Songs from Revenge were played, and obviously The Black Parade, but when someone said to play “Sorrows” he refused and said that that was the reason Bob Bryar brought a weapon to shows – for when people asked to play songs from Bullets. Touchy subject, eh? xD

We all sat there when it was over, stunned by the mind blowing performance that was just shown to us over DVD. Something only I thought you could experience at the show! How wrong I was….

After the intern said it was over, we all got up and they passed out the remaining stack of The Black Parade decals to me and my friend, saying that we could have as many as we wanted.

It was definitely worth the three hours driving down to see this amazing production by My Chemical Romance, and I would never trade it for the world. The band wasn’t there, but it felt as if they were… I felt the exact same as I do after I see a live show by them: inspired.
