Still More Tour Dates to Come?

Reprise has just released a statement containing a list of U.S. tour dates booked to date.  At the end of the statement, there is an asterisk followed by the words “more to come”.

Mikey had stated in his email, sent through Reprise to everyone on their mailing list, that the Madison Square Garden performance would be the perfect goodbye to “The Black Parade” tour.  Many are thinking this means that is the last stop on the new U.S. tour.  For those of you who do not have a tour date near you, maybe there is still hope!

Below is the statement sent out by Reprise…

Last American Shows Before Platinum-Selling Rock Band Begin Work on New Album

BURBANK, CA–(February 29, 2008) – My Chemical Romance, who traveled the globe last year in support of their platinum-selling album “The Black Parade,” will return to the U.S. in March for a month-plus tour — the last series of dates before the band take time off to write a new album. The tour, which features support from Billy Talent and Drive By, begins March 28th in Tempe, AZ, and will hit mid-size theaters across the country. My Chemical Romance made a deliberate decision to play more intimate venues this time around after spending months of performing in U.S. arenas on the Projekt Revolution tour with Linkin Park and Taking Back Sunday over the summer.

“We are really excited about the tour,” the band said in a statement posted on its website (www.mychemicalromance.com). “Our good friends Billy Talent and Drive By are coming with us. We could not think of a better tour to go away from ‘The Black Parade.’ We wanted to come to these places. We selected them. We wanted to get away from big shows for a while. When we started this thing, we could feel you guys right in front of us. It is time for that to happen again.”

My Chemical Romance is also putting the finishing touches on an upcoming CD/DVD titled “The Black Parade is Dead!,” which was filmed over several weeks in October 2007.

Released in October 2006, “The Black Parade” shot to No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, selling more than 240,000 copies its first week of release. The album was hailed by critics and has spawned four Modern Rock smash singles, including the latest, “Teenagers,” which hit the No. 1 spot on MTV’s “TRL.”

My Chemical Romance at Sloss Furnace

sloss2.jpg

My Chemical Romance are slated to play Sloss Furnace on April 30, 2008 at 7pm.  Many have asked why Sloss Furnace?  Others have asked what is Sloss Furnace?  We are going to try to answer that.

Sloss Furnace was an iron producing furnace in Birmingham, Alabama.  It began in April of 1882 and produced iron until the 90’s.  Sloss Furnace has now been turned into a hitstorical museum.  They offer daily tours, host events, and host the annual Sloss Fright Furnace the month of October.

Sloss is said to be haunted.  They were featured on Fox Channel’s “Scariest Places On Earth” in 2006.  One can imagine this is the reason MCR chose to add this stop on their U.S. tour.

Fisher Speaks Again…

Written on the attached page, is an entry into a blog that Hart D. Fisher contacted directly on the 27th of February.  He keeps saying there is more to the story.  My question is:  Why aren’t we hearing the rest of the story?

Is he waiting to tell more in order to keep the spot light on him?

Does he really have instances where Gerard actually plagiarized his work?

If Gerard did plagiarize, why is he bringing it to the web and not to a court near him?

Do we really believe that Gerard took his lyrics from anything other than life experiences?

I had decided I wasn’t going to promote this nobody’s claims anymore, but I am about current issues with the guys.  This is a current issue.

Do we here at My Chemcial Freak think there is anything to the allegations?  No, I really don’t believe that there is.  I truely think this is his way of making money when he needs it.  Does my heart go out to him and his wife for their woes?  Yes, it does go out to them, but its no excuse for the way he has chosen to go about this.

I have examined the situation, thus far, and have come up with this.  Dark Horse comics did, indeed, claim The Umbrella Academy to be Gerard’s first run at comics.  Gerard, however, never stated this.  Dark Horse has, in the last two days, stated they were told from the get-go about the “On Raven’s Wings 1 & 2″ comic.  They knew that it was a dabble in comics for a 16-year-old Way.  I believe it was a simple oversight on their behalf, calling it his first.

So far the only statement Gerard has made on the matter is the following:

I sent [Hart] an email years ago, before we finished ‘Revenge,’ thanking him for believing in me, and never got a response. I think I emailed him once again as well…never heard anything back. I’m not ashamed of what I did for him, and wanted to see him in person and thank him. I’ve never had the chance.

-Gerard Way, through Dark Horse Comics

The article in which Dark Horse deemed The Umbrella Academy, Gerard’s first comic can be found HERE.  It simply states…

Way’s first comics work is remarkably polished, and he takes to scripting far better than many of the other celebrity comics writers coming to the field from other media, most of whom evidence a still-getting-the-hang-of-it learning curve for a while. Beyond simply being not bad, Way’s loony action adventure tale fits squarely into his publisher’s zanier pulp riffs, like Mike Mignola’s Hellboy and Eric Powell’s The Goon.
-Review from Dark Horse Comics site

Apparently the above snippet is the root of Hart’s ranting.  I, as well as others, will have to see the proof of the plagiarism.  I could be wrong, but again I do not believe it exists.
